  5 to 10 a day

Eating a serving of vegetables or fruit from each colour group is one way to add variety to your diet. Each colour group tends to correspond to different combinations of nutrients and phytochemicals. So, as stated by the Food and Agriculture Organization (2003)
" the more colours on your plate, the more health-promoting properties in your diet ".

  • Be sure you make extra copies of the colour chart to use a new one each week.
  • Post it were you will use it: on the fridge, at work or keep it with you.
  • Make eating vegetables and fruits fun and try new items from different colour groups.
  • Keep this booklet with you when you are shopping as a quick reference to the colour key.
  • Eat a variety of colours and enjoy!
